What is green sand molding?

The molding system made with sand, which is prepared by mixing and moistening the sand with coal dust and bentonite by automatic and sometimes manual methods in foundries, is called green sand molding. Green sand molding is the oldest known casting sand molding method.

What is flask molding?

In foundries, making casting sand in steel frames called flask is called flask molding. Steel flasks are still found outside of the sand when casting in this type of molding. However, after casting is done and solidification is achieved, the flask is seperated from sand and casting and returns to line to be used again.
