What is a foundry model?

Forms that give the shape of sand in foundries are called models or molds. After the model is molded, it is separated from the sand and prepared for use again. Models are produced from metal, wood or araldite-like materials, depending on the type of part to be molded and the method.

Coreboxes are part of the model kit in foundries. A sand mold is also made for the places where space is desired to be removed in the casting. These molds are molded in boxes called coreboxes and the male sand mold is placed inside the main sand mold.
